Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Just stay one night?

In order to get the most out of your experience when visiting Highway Hill, we suggest that you book a minimum two night stay. However, if you would prefer to come for only one night then we will ask for a single-night surcharge of £25 on any unit; this helps us meet our overheads which can otherwise absorb most of the money we make on one-night stays.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check in is from 2pm till late on the day of arrival. Check-out is by 11am on the day of departure.

What do we do on arrival?

Parking is available in designated parking areas in the farm yard. We kindly ask that you keep all access and entrance ways clear in case the emergency services need to gain access to the site. There is also farm machinery being used within the yard on a daily basis.

The keys for your huts/bell tents will be in the key safes attached to the outhouse opposite the kitchen area. Your key code will be emailed to you upon booking.

What facilities are available on site?

Along with normal facilities such as toilets (with disabled access), showers, washing up facilities and a kitchen area (by the office), BBQs, fire pit and a hammock are also available for your use. Some charcoal for the BBQ is supplied but we suggest that guests bring their own too if they expect to do lots of barbecuing. There are plenty of logs and kindling for the fire pit and woodburning stoves on site.

Each shepherds hut contains all essential cooking utensils, an electric fridge, a hob and a kettle. A toaster is available in the kitchen area if required. Guests staying in bell tents are welcome to use the kitchen facilities on site.

We also have a communal tent with a more extensive kitchen area, as well as tables and a comfy hangout zone. It is the perfect space to spread out if you are hiring more than one unit, and is particularly perfect for bell tent guests who do not have kitchen facilities inside their tents. The communal tent is available to hire at an additional cost of £50 per day.

If you are bringing small children, we can supply a cot and/or highchair if needed. Please contact us in advance so we can make sure these are available upon your arrival.

The shepherds huts are fitted with electric sockets and lights. The bell tents do not have an electricity supply in them, but do have battery operated lanterns and fairy lights.

There is a hair dryer in the toilet block next to the kitchen area and guests have access to a large chest freezer which can be found near the kitchen area.

Wifi is available in the area around the kitchen, office and Hayloft, but we encourage guests to consider switching off from online life while they are at Highway Hill if they can!

What is included in the accommodation price?

Our prices are per unit and include all bed linen, towels, and torches and lanterns for your night-time walk to the toilet.

We will supply you with half a dozen farm fresh eggs, a pint of milk, and Highway Hill apple juice for your arrival. If you are staying in a shepherds hut then these will be in the fridge or electric cooler in your hut, and if you are staying in a bell tent then you will find your eggs and milk in the kitchen. Each hut is also supplied with olive oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, pasta, oats for your morning porridge, and tea, coffee and sugar; guests staying in bell tents will also find these in the kitchen.

Can we bring our dog?

Due to the fact that there are a lot animals on the farm, we do not allow pets. There may also be children on the site and not all children/parents are comfortable with dogs. We thank you for your understanding in this matter.
